DIY Body Powder to Keep Mosquitoes AWAY

A few days ago, I showed you a simple method for making DIY Mosquio Repellent Lotion for everyday use. Today, we are talking powder -- and this one can be made COMPLETELY naturally. You have 2 options: completely natural or mostly natural and a little smoother.  I opt for the latter.

Diapers, book, toilet paper and coffee all counts!  THANK YOU for supporting A Nest for All Seasons.

Here is what you will need:

Cheap Baby Powder (or an empty powder bottle)
Cornstarch (NOT cornMEAL)
Lemongrass Essential Oil
(The set linked to above is all three oils for less than $20.)

Find coconut oil AND cornstarch in the baking aisle of your grocery store to make the DIY lotion AND powder.  Keep those mosquitoes AWAY!
These are the very same scents I used in my DIY lotion, which keeps scents consistent and also keeps costs minimal.
The three bottles of oils should allow you to make 10-15 batches of lotion or powder.  A little goes a LONG way!

DIRECTIONS:

Instructions are very simple on this one!  Take an inexpensive bottle of baby powder that has about 1/3 left and add pure cornstarch to the bottle with a funnel or spoon.  Leave 1/2" free at the top of the bottle. (Alternatively use ONLY fine cornstarch for a completely natural product.)

Then, add in 5-7 drops each of grapefruit essential oil, citronella essential oil and lemongrass essential oil.  Alternatively, you can add 15 drops of lemongrass or citronella alone.  Grapefruit is not strong enough on its own to repel mosquitoes.

Cap and close your powder bottle and shake vigorously for 1 minute to distribute the oils.  Use powder on areas prone to sweat or bites.  Toes are a good place to start!!

*Recipe can be doubled, tripled or quadrupled :)

You're links are not working very well today. None worked in the email newsletter except to go to web page and then only half of them worked. Anyway, thank you for the DIY powder. I am going to make some up for my great-granddaughters.
