Easy Gum Paste Ghost Cupcake Toppers
Materials and Equipment Needed:--Gum Paste (I like Satin Ice Brand)
--round cookie cutter (THIS SET is awesome)
--black food coloring
--small, clean paint brush
Start by creating a basic form to go under your ghostly, edible sheet. Just make it rounded at the top (like a head, and wider and flatter at the base. Make them taller, make them shorter, make them fatter, make them thinner. It doesn't matter! It's all going to be covered up by your edible sheet.
Thinly roll out some gum paste, and cut into a circle shape. I used a circle cookie cutter, but you could easily use a drinking glass, or even just freehand cut a circle with a sharp paring knife. This is the kind of tutorial where you don't have to be careful and precise (my favorite kind!).
Drape your circle of gum paste over the gum paste body forms you've already created. Stretch the gum paste circle down gently, until it reaches the ground, and arrange the folds however you like them.
Paint the eyes and mouth (just easy ovals--you've been practicing this since kindergarten!) on with black food coloring. I have a set of clean, food-safe paintbrushes that I only use for making cakes and cookies, but if you don't, you could easily use a toothpick for this
