Hello again, friends of the Nest! I have another sewing tutorial to share with you today! A simple one! We are going to make a safety pins holder and with Halloween just around the corner, I have been seeing a lot of Frankenstein drawings everywhere and I know I can do something with the stitches on his forehead! Let's get started!

What you need:

  1. Felt (green, black and white);
  2. Polyfil/cotton for filling;
  3. Safety pins;
  4. Needles & thread;
  5. Scissors.

                    Step 1: Cut out the parts (below are the measurements I used, you can change them to suit your own liking):
                                        1. 2 x big green circles (dia. 10 cm);
                                        2. 1 x white circle (dia. 3 cm);
                                        3. 1 x black circle (dia. 1.5 cm);
                                        4. 1 x green rectangle (5 cm x 1.5 cm);
                                        5. 1 x black triangle (base = 4 cm and height = 1cm);
                                        6. 1 x cut off circle (from the big green circle) in black.

Step 2: Cut the white and black circles into two.

Step 3: Stitch both left and right sides of the rectangle on top of one of the big circles.
 Make sure you don't stitch the longer part of the rectangle!

Step 4: Place the black semi-circle above the white's and stitch them onto the big circle to make an eye.
Repeat for the other eye. Don't forget the triangle for the mouth!

Step 5: Shape the black felt into a hair-looking piece and stitch in onto the green circle
(Okay, I know he looks like an awkward green tomato with a funny ice pack on his forehead but keep going).

Step 6: Sandwich some polyfil or cotton between the two green circle and close stitch them.

Get your loose safety pins that have been lying around in the house and fasten them on his forehead!
And that's it for the grumpy Frankie safety pins keeper tutorial (Fiuh)! Hope you like it!  ~Onel
