Have you guys heard of T-shirt yarn? I had never heard of it until a few weeks ago when I saw THIS TUTORIAL on CRAFTGAWKER.
Basically, you cut up an old T-shirt into strips and the shirt will roll up when pulled to create a large "yarn". You can actually knit with the yarn, or simply turn it into necklaces and bracelets like this:
See the ridges where the T-shirt fabric has rolled up? You can hide uneven cutting by rolling it under. Perfect for a TV-watching project :)
Most tutorials recommend a T-shirt with no seams, but I simply gathered the seams at the back of the necklace and wrapped it with a bit of scrap material. You can make several wrappings along the length of the necklace if you want or add other little notions, but I decided to stick with basic lengths of the material.
I had enough for 3 necklaces and 1 bracelet out of one T-shirt because I cut my strips quite thin. You can wear just 1, or go all bold and wear a bunch of these at the same time. Are you dying to cut up any old T-shirts? Would you like an in-depth tutorial on this or is it old hat to you??
