Welcome  to Station Sqaure in Pittsburgh!  We were there for a few days while Daddo was working hard, and we found some creative ways to entertain ourselves....3 children in a hotel room is NOT fun for very long...I'll spare you the details...unless you ask in which case I might share...back to the action though...

The views from Station Square in Pittsburgh...

I know you don't want to smile...

C'mon puhlease....

You know you want to...

Ha!!!  GOT YOU!

 nice grimmace...
 Hi cutie...
You are far too cute for just one photo...
ok...WHAT on earth could you all possibly be so concerned about??  HUH?

I may never ride in the calvary...

...fly over the enemy...

...march in the infantry...

...shoot the artillery...

Yes Sir!

...love...

...yes I know the words to song are out of order...blame half on my Dad's teaching and half on my lazy blogging today...:)  Don't act like you weren't singing along though...you know you were...
Prepare yourself for a parade of babies...

I LOVE when the smile turns into a yawn...

...could you please stop chasing that poor bird...?

Why I Garden...

The best place to seek God is in a garden.  You can dig for him there.  ~George Bernard Shaw, The Adventures of the Black Girl in Her Search for God, 1932

There can be no other occupation like gardening in which, if you were to creep up behind someone at their work, you would find them smiling.  ~Mirabel Osler

The greatest gift of the garden is the restoration of the five senses.  ~Hanna Rion

Why Gardening has become an obsession...

Weather means more when you have a garden.  There's nothing like listening to a shower and thinking how it is soaking in around your green beans.  ~Marcelene Cox

Gardening is a kind of disease.  It infects you, you cannot escape it.  When you go visiting, your eyes rove about the garden; you interrupt the serious cocktail drinking because of an irresistible impulse to get up and pull a weed.  ~Lewis Gannit

Why I think the obsession might be one of the best you could have...

Half the interest of a garden is the constant exercise of the imagination.  ~Mrs. C.W. Earle, Pot-Pourri from a Surrey Garden, 1897 (Thanks, Jessica)

Why try to explain miracles to your kids when you can just have them plant a garden.  ~Robert Brault, www.robertbrault.com

As a gardener, I'm among those who believe that much of the evidence of God's existence has been planted.  ~Robert Brault, www.robertbrault.com

why I posted all of these photos of dew...

Nothing can beat the smell of dew and flowers and the odor that comes out of the earth when the sun goes down.
Ethel Waters

Joy descends gently upon us like the evening dew, and does not patter down like a hailstorm.
Jean Paul

Let your life lightly dance on the edges of Time like dew on the tip of a leaf.
Rabindranath Tagore

and finally...

Coffee.  Garden.  Coffee.  Does a good morning need anything else?  ~Betsy CaƱas Garmon, www.wildthymecreative.com

I'm sorry I can't stop at one...and neither can you!  check out more quotes from bloggers at Sunday Citar on the lovely Fresh Mommy's site!

Little Laundry Room Redo

It all started with this lovely wallpaper.  Yes, I hate wallpaper.  Yes, I am in love with THIS wallpaper.  I found it (of course) on clearance at Target several years ago.  I didn't have a spot or a plan for it, but I bought the three remaining rolls (along with a rug and green capiz curtains and a very large pillow).  It was back when they had a little boutique section to compete with Pier 1 and World Market.  Apparently it did not quite work because those little boutiques haven't been popping up again.  Anyway, I was the lucky recipient of very cheap wonderful pretty stuff and now I am finally able to use it!  Those 3 rolls were the perfect amount for the laundry room :)

there were a few scraps left...one went on this corkboard...there will probably be more projects before too long...

...my girlie pink rug that I never had a place for...it's SO pink!  Yes...Target clearance...

A sign from the little store that used to be housed in the garage...
I did keep a few things like this wonderful detergent holding bucket, and a few odds and ends...but otherwise - goodBYE ugly floor and walls and icky rust everywhere...YUCK!

BEFORE
Total cost... $56
$20 for wallpaper
$25 for floor
$6 for rug
$5 for oops paint

of course...it was all bought previously...so total cost to me today...$0 :)

Hello Dining Room...

Welcome to our dining room :)  This $99 table has been with us since our beginnings and is starting to show it :)  To hide the scratches, I have been using this placemats to cover them while blending in.  Eventually, I'll have to refinish the whole thing.

In the middle of the table, right now I have my little sedum fairyland :)  These were 25 cents for 4 packs at Lowe's recently, so I planted them with some cut sedum heads, stones, etc.  and yes...I went hunting around the house for fairies or trolls and couldn't find any.  I know it is quite ridiculous...but it makes me smile :)  Visit SHABBY NEST for more frugal ideas...

If you were wondering what was on the other side of the room...here is the blog post for the COMPUTER ROOM.

Three must haves in my dining room...a salt cellar, hollyhock seedlings and my "toybox".  I am a saltoholic and love the look of thick kosher salt in a cellar.  I love the nice crunch of thicker salt as well - yum!  I almost always have seedlings growing somewhere in the house and usually just cross my fingers that a baby doesn't attack them.  My toybox is a little shelf (75% off at Lowe's!) with all of my favorite things.  Pretty dishes, candles, stationary, etc, etc.  Again, I just kind of cross my fingers that the babies leave it alone and so far it looks too boring for them to touch...yay!
